Corona Quarry Celebrates Two Awards
Congratulations are in order for Vulcan’s Corona Quarry team in Corona, California. In 2018, the facility received the California Construction and Industrial Materials Association (CalCIMA) Excellence in Safety Award – Large Aggregate Category and The National Stone, Sand, and Gravel Association Gold Safety Excellence Award – Large Category.
“Winning both of those awards, I can’t even explain how good it makes me feel about my crew,” said District Operations Manager Paul Sibole. “Vulcan has a safety culture and the guys here, they’re a really good example.”
Corona has achieved more than a MILLION man-hours without a lost-time accident, and the number continues to increase every day. “It just goes to show how good this facility runs and how great the employees are here and how serious they take safety every day,” said Assistant Manager Jason Solis. Solis and fellow Assistant Plant Manager Earl Ochs accepted their CalCIMA award at the CalCIMA Convention in November 2018.
“Anybody you go talk to here, they’ll tell you about the safety culture at Corona and anybody that comes and visits here can see it,” said Area Manager John Atkins. With over 21 years without a lost-time run, the Corona team is truly standing up for safety!
