Honoring Our Military

The brother and sisterhood found in the military is also evident at Vulcan with some 600 veterans employed at facilities throughout the country.

Vulcan takes great pride in employing those who have served our country and encourages veterans to apply to begin a career with the company.

“I think my time in the military has helped me with this career,” said Chula Vista Plant Manager Darin Gray in Southern California who served four years in the U.S. Marines prior to joining Vulcan. “Being organized and detailed oriented and having just a strong work ethic.”

Chula Vista Plant Manager Darin Gray is also a military veteran.

Vulcan also emphasizes giving back and honoring those who have served. Area Permitting Manager and Vietnam veteran Jim Gore serves as a board member of the Riverside National Cemetery in Southern California.

Vulcan Area Permitting Manager and Vietnam veteran Jim Gore (back right) comes from a family of military veterans.

“If the cemetery asks us for something, we provide it,” Gore said. “To me, if you’re going to be a part of a community you need to be a part of the community and so to be able to give back to Riverside National Cemetery to me is an honor.”
